Desires and the situation of our heart are deeply entwined. What our heart is fixed on becomes the direction of our lives. If our hearts are fixed upon righteousness, then we will be assisted in that journey by the Lord and we will see all our hopes and dreams fulfilled for the good, both in this life and perfectly in the life to come. If instead we are wicked people with wicked desires, we will find them continually unfulfilled, frustrated, an empty consuming ache within us, a source of bitterness and finally fuel for our judgment by God.
